The closest units to colorado springs that are valid for otc elk archery and appear to be mostly public land are gmu 28 37 44 45 47 444 86 but you are looking at 90 minute drive minimum just to get to the dirt roads these units ranged from 4 to 37 success.

I Plan On Hunting 81 Otc Archery This Year.
Access through private land to limited access federal land diy elk hunt with the largest elk herd in the world (40,000+ animals) this unit has unlimited over the counter tags. Ease of drawing 86 86 success 39 39 trophy potential 79 79 public access 43 43. There is a large elk herd in this unit, and it occupies all available habitat.
